MOD Garats Hay

My name is Major Wayne Fielding and I am the Executive Officer at MOD Garats Hay. I work with Heather Neep who is the Head of Establishment and together we make up the Station Headquarters Team.

As I am sure you are aware, the site converted back to a military establishment in September 2021. In January 2023, our permanent staff population grew when we opened as a small Regional Medical Centre for Serving Personnel. The Ministry of Defence is looking to retain the site and are currently undertaking an assessment study on what role the site will play going forward.

Currently, MOD Garats Hay is used for military training, conferences, sporting events and classroom learning. We also have other organisations such as the Police and Emergency Services making use of the site for training. It is not unusual for us to have dogs, simulated gunfire, pyrotechnics and blue lights on site as part of this training. We are absolutely committed to being a good neighbour and will always endeavour to minimise the impact on the local area and community.
